Understanding and applying the OECD due diligence guidelines with a view to the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive

For whom this is interesting
General management, ESG/CSR staff, finance and legal staff, procurement and supply chain management staff

Your benefits
The OECD guidelines and the accompanying due diligence guidelines have become a widely recognised and adapted framework for good business ethics and many companies implement them to a certain extent or at least support them. The EU also recognised them as the basis for the upcoming Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive as they are very much aligned. Although only 1% of businesses active in the EU will need to comply with this directive, small and medium-sized companies will be affected as they are required to deliver the input for the reporting companies. Furthermore, it can be assumed that it is only a question of time until a similar regulation will also be introduced for smaller companies. Be it for good business conduct or compliance with the directive, this workshop will give you an overview to understand the rationales behind and the duties of a company that would like to implement these frameworks.

The workshop covers the following topics:

  • Introduction to the OECD guidelines and the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive
  • Objectives of both frameworks
  • Introduction to the various due diligence stages
  • Embed responsible business conduct
  • Identify and assess adverse impacts
  • Cease, prevent or mitigate adverse impacts
  • Track implementation and results
  • Communicate how impacts are addressed
  • Provide for or cooperate in remediation when appropriate
  • How to start at your company

It will also trigger conversations among the participants who probably would not in day-to-day work discuss this topic in a structured and guided way. The different perspectives on this will add valuable insights into how to tackle ESG. The workshop will also include discussions dealing with your individual company set-up, identifying chances, obstacles, and possible next steps. After finishing the workshop you will have documented and actionable to-dos for your business.

Prior to the workshop, our consultants will have a briefing call with you to understand your motivation, objectives, and status quo and perform desktop research on your company and respective industry to tailor the workshop to your needs.
