The answer is in the regulation, but that means you\u2019d have to work your way through the entire text, including all the articles and annexes. We wanted to save you that step.  <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">That\u2019s why we\u2019ve built a free <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.empact.nu\/en\/ppwr-tool\">PPWR tool<\/a>. You\u2019ll go through a few steps, and then you\u2019ll know what\u2019s at stake for you\u2014without having to commit to a consulting process right away. You take or upload a photo of your packaging, and the tool automatically recognizes the material, function, and properties\u2014such as food contact\u2014and pre-fills the form with that information. No need to comb through specification sheets or deal with technical jargon\u2014a photo is all you need to get started. Based on that, the tool also drafts a declaration of conformity for you.   <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This makes the PPWR tool Empact\u2019s second AI-driven tool, following our <a href=\"https:\/\/tools.empact.nu\/en\/dpp-tool\">ESPR Digital Product Passport tool<\/a>. This is a deliberate strategy: we want to lead the way in using AI to make complex regulations more manageable, so you can quickly understand where you stand. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the tool does for you<\/h2>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Determine your role under the regulation: manufacturer, importer, distributor, or producer for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR). You can read about how this distinction works in <a href=\"https:\/\/empact.nu\/en\/insights\/are-you-a-producer-covered-by-the-ppwr-your-role-and-obligations-explained\/\">our article on the roles<\/a>. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It recognizes your packaging from a photo using AI and fills in the information for you in advance.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For each package, indicate which <a href=\"https:\/\/empact.nu\/en\/insights\/what-changes-need-to-be-made-to-your-packaging-an-overview-of-the-ppwr-requirements\/\">requirements<\/a> will apply and on what <a href=\"https:\/\/empact.nu\/en\/insights\/ppwr-deadlines-what-needs-to-be-done-by-when\/\">date<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Turn that into a to-do list, with the next deadline at the top.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a>Create a checklist for your declaration of conformity\u2014the <\/a>document you must be able to present for each package starting August 12, 2026.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What the tool doesn&#8217;t do<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The result is a preliminary overview, not a final legal determination. <a>The tool does the groundwork,<\/a><a href=\"#_msocom_3\"> but to ensure<\/a> a complete file\u2014including technical documentation and a validated declaration of conformity\u2014a human review is still necessary. Think of it as the first step: afterward, you\u2019ll know what to expect and where you might need help. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is this tool intended for?<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For anyone who places packaged products or packaging on the EU market. Whether you sell your own brand, import products, or run an online store that \u201conly resells\u201d items: your assessment of your role often turns out to be different than expected. <\/p>\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Getting Started<\/h2>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Start with your role and your packaging. Grab your phone, take a photo, and the tool will walk you through the rest and organize your to-do list by date.
