Graduation: sustainability & change management

Write your thesis at Empact

Almost finished with your Master’s degree in Economics, Business Administration or a related study? And do you want to delve into sustainability and ESG? Then we are looking for you.

The issue

More and more organizations know why sustainability is important and what they want to achieve. But the how question remains the biggest challenge. How do you ensure that sustainability does not remain a separate project, but really becomes part of everyone’s daily work? How do you create change that stays? What transition is needed and how does a company create its role in this transition? That is where your research lies.

Your research

You will investigate how change management insights from theories such as Nijhof & Simons, Kotter, ADKAR and Burke-Litwin work in practice within a sustainability context. The goal is not to develop new theory, but to make existing knowledge applicable for organizations that really want to make an impact. You determine the exact direction of your research. We provide substantive guidance and access to practical cases.

What we are looking for

You are a master’s student with an affinity for sustainability and impact. You like to work independently, are entrepreneurial and can extract practical insights from scientific literature. You are fluent in Dutch and English. The start date is determined by mutual agreement.

Guidance

Martin de Jong, founder of Empact and part-time lecturer at the UvA, will guide you during your research. He has extensive experience with both the topic and guiding graduate students. You will have the space to determine your own direction, with plenty of sparring and practical input.
